Humera Khan College of Education oraganized a Visit to Nature’s Park . Teachers and FY students visited the park to learn more about flora and fauna around us.
Maharashtra Nature Park is a 37-acre oasis of greenery situated right in the midst of bustling Mumbai, in the locality of Mahim. The park is one of the city’s conservation success stories – it was originally the site of a 15-foot high municipal garbage dump in the 70s. Efforts by the World Wildlife Fund, local activists, and Mumbai government resulted in the painstaking clearance of the site, spreading of fresh soil and the planting of saplings. These have now grown into a beautiful forest, delighting all nature lovers in the city.
The park is surrounded by the natural eco-system of the Mithi river. The park also has several conservation and awareness activities – such as a nursery section, medicinal plants section, vermicomposting section, etc.
